LNB Round 11: Reales are defeated by Indios

Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was another loss of top-ranked Reales (11-5) in San Francisco on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by fourth ranked Indios (10-7) 99-88. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. It was a great evening for Luismal Ferreiras (197-2003) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points and 8 rebounds. American Curtis Hollis (198-1998, college: Hutchinson) helped adding 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Indios' coach Victor Ortega used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American point guard Quade Green (183-1998, college: Washington, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with 23 points and 4 assists. Indios moved-up to second place. Reales at the other side still keep top position with five games lost. Indios are again looking forward to face league's leader Reales in La Vega in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Reales will play on the road against Titanes in San Cristobal and are hoping to win this game.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Santo Domingo: Soles (#6) and Leones (#4). Soles (8-8) won against visiting Leones (9-7) 89-82. It was an exceptional evening for naturalized American Gerardo Suero (196-1989, college: Albany) who led the winners and scored 27 points and 5 rebounds. Fausto Pichardo accounted for 21 points and 6 rebounds. Kelvin Perez came up with 23 points for Leones in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Soles maintains sixth place with 8-8 record. Leones lost third consecutive game. Defending champion dropped to the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Caneros. Soles' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Santo Domingo to the arena Leones.
The game between Top Four teams took place in La Romana. 3rd placed host Caneros (9-7) lost to first ranked Reales (11-5) 85-73. The best player for the winners was Gelvis Solano who scored 23 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Luis Santos produced a double-double by scoring 14 points and 15 rebounds for the hosts. Caneros' coach Miguel Volcan rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Reales maintains first place with 11-5 record. Loser Caneros keep the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Leones. Reales will meet at home league's second-placed Indios in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Caneros will play against Leones and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last game of round 11 Titanes won against Leones on the opponent's court 95-90.

Leones - Titanes 90-95

There was a minor upset in Santo Domingo where 4th placed Leones (9-7) were defeated by sixth ranked Titanes (9-8) 95-90 on Wednesday. Titanes made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was American Jaelyn Johnson-Coston (198-1993, college: FMU) who scored 22 points and 6 rebounds. Swingman Jassel Perez (195-2001) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals. Kelvin Perez produced 27 points and 6 rebounds and Diego Colon (192-2001) added 19 points respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Leones' coach Julio Duquela tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Titanes have a solid series of three victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place. Leones lost third consecutive game. Defending champion dropped to the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Caneros. Titanes will meet at home league's leader Reales in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Leones' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Santo Domingo Soles.
